You can create a note by recording directly or by uploading an audio file.
You can also create notes in advance before recording or uploading files.
However, if the administrator restricts you from creating notes, you cannot create a new note. You can only access and view the shared note.
A network connection is required for uploading and transcription. On mobile, you can also allow it only when there is a WiFi connection.
Recording quota provision
- Recording quotas are renewed monthly, and unused quotas are not carried over.
- Quotas are calculated and provided based on the starting and ending date of the product.
- Quotas are shared by all members.
Information for recording and file uploading
- Recording and uploading files are limited to 180 minutes in length.
- If you record longer than 180 minutes, the recording immediately ends and is transcribed only up to 180 minutes.
- If you upload a file longer than 180 minutes, the section up to 180 minutes is transcribed.
Recording quota deduction
- The recording quota is deducted based on when the transcription starts.
- If you cancel uploading, the usage time will not be deducted.
- If you attempt to create a note with a low recording quota, you can transcribe recordings for up to 180 minutes.
- You can still record but the file will not be transcribed if you use all quota.
Recording
You can start recording and create a new note.
You can also set the recognized language, add bookmarks and create a memo while recording.
Mobile
- Tap in ClovaNote.
- Tap 'Record' to start recording. Place the microphone as close as possible to the person speaking while recording.
- To end recording, press 'Done'.
- Select 'Audio category' and 'Number of participants'.
- The audio is automatically transcribed, and a push notification for the new transcript will be sent.
PC Web
- Click at the top left to start recording. Place the microphone as close as possible to the person speaking while recording.
- To end recording, press 'Done'.
- Select 'Audio category' and 'Number of participants'.

However, a microphone must be connected when recording on PC.
On PC, you cannot record any audio playing on the browser such as the audio from other members during a video call.
If a dialog box asking a permission to record appears, you must allow ClovaNote to access your microphone in the browser settings.
Upload an audio file
You can create a note by uploading a recording file.
You can also edit the title, attendees, and memo you enter later.
Mobile
- If the file is recorded with the iOS default recorder, you need to move the file in Voice Memos before uploading.
- Check the file you want to use in Voice Memos. Tap 'Save To Files' and move the file to iCloud Drive or My iPhone folder.
- Tap in ClovaNote.
- Tap 'Upload file'.
- Enter the title, attendees, and memo in 'New note'.
- Select the file to upload.
- Android: Select the audio file from either the call audio or general tab.
If you use automatic recording in the settings, the audio file is saved in the call audio tab. - iOS:Select the audio file to transcribe from the iCloud Drive or My iPhone folder.
However, only files with .m4a, .mp3, .aad, .amr, and .wav extensions can be uploaded on iOS.

- When the file is uploaded, the audio is automatically transcribed and a push notification for a new transcript will be sent.
PC Web
- Click at the top left.
- Drag and drop or attach the file to upload after selecting a recognized language.
- You can only upload files with .m4a, .mp3, .aac, and .wav extensions and the maximum file size is 300 MB.
- Select 'Audio category' and 'Number of participants' of the uploaded file.
- When the file is uploaded, the audio is automatically transcribed and a push notification for a new transcript will be sent.
Files are transcribed sequentially and created as individual notes when you select and drag 2 or more files into the My Notes list on the PC home or in a folder.
You can select a recognized language, and the audio type and number of attendees are set as default.
However, we recommend that you do not upload more than 100 files at once. Please check on the network connection and available quota before uploading files.
Create a note in advance
You can enter the title, attendees, topics, etc. in advance if you don’t have a file or cannot start recording.
Then, start recording or uploading a file to create a new note when the meeting starts.
Mobile
- Tap in ClovaNote.
- Tap 'New note'.
- Enter the title, 'Participants', and 'Memo'.
- Tap 'Record' to start recording or upload the file you already have in 'New note'.
- When the file is uploaded, the audio is automatically transcribed and a push notification for a new transcript will be sent.
PC Web
- Click at the top left.
