Message translation

This feature is available after applying for NAVER WORKS Core.

You can translate specific messages in the message room, or you can set conversations to be automatically interpreted.

Translate a message

Select a message to translate to the language currently used in your device.

The selected message will be translated into the target language, displayed below the original text.

Mobile

  1. Long-press the message you want to translate.
    The translation menu will not appear for messages that have already been translated.
  2. Tap 'Translate' to translate the message.

PC Web

  1. Click at the top.
  2. Click 'Message'.
  3. Click a message room from the message room list.
  4. Right-click the message you want to translate in the message room.
    Alternatively, if you place the mouse next to the message, will appear. Click the button.
  5. From the menu, click 'Translate' to translate the message.

PC App

  1. Click at the top left of the screen.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Right-click the message you want to translate in the message room.
    Alternatively, if you place the mouse next to the message, will appear. Then, click the button.
  4. From the menu, click 'Translate' to translate the message.

Automatic translation

If multiple languages are used in a message room, you can have all messages automatically translated to the language you are using.

Enable automatic translation

A message will appear in the message room notifying you that auto-translation has started. All messages shared from that point on will be automatically translated.

Auto-translation will translate messages into the user’s set language, regardless of the original language of the message.  You can also choose to translate between specific languages.

Mobile

  1. Tap in a message room.
  2. Tap 'Translation'.
  3. Enable 'Translation'.
  4. Select 'Auto translation' or the target language. Then tap 'Confirm' to save changes.

PC Web

  1. Click at the top.
  2. Click 'Message'.
  3. Click a message room from the message room list.
  4. Click at the top right of the message room.
  5. Click 'Translation'.
  6. Click 'Enable' of 'Translation'.
  7. Select 'Auto translation' or the target language. Then click 'OK' to save changes.

PC App

  1. Click at the top left of the screen.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Click at the top right of the message room.
  4. Click 'Translation'.
  5. Click 'Translation'.
  6. Select 'Auto Translate' or the target language. Then click 'OK' to save changes.

Disable automatic translation

A message will appear in the message room to notify you that auto-translation has ended. From that point on, all messages will no longer be automatically translated.

Mobile

  1. Tap in a message room.
  2. Tap 'Translation'.
  3. Disable 'Translation', and tap 'Confirm' to save changes.

PC Web

  1. Click at the top.
  2. Click 'Message'.
  3. Click a message room from the message room list.
  4. Click at the top right of the message room.
  5. Click 'Translation'.
  6. Click 'Disable' of 'Translation'.

PC App

  1. Click at the top left of the screen.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Click at the top right of the message room.
  4. Click 'Translation'.
  5. Click 'Translation' to disable the function. Then click 'OK'.
