Interpreter mode

This feature is available after applying for NAVER WORKS Core.

Just like an offline meeting with interpretation, participants can conduct the meeting while listening to the interpreter in the language of their choice.

When interpretation is in progress, the volume of participants other than interpreter is adjusted lower to avoid disrupting the meeting.

Create a link for meeting with interpretation

You can create a link and start an interpretation meeting.
You can create a link for interpreter mode meeting in Calendar and message list.
Add the generated link in a calendar event or share it in message rooms.
This feature is supported in v3.3 and later. It is recommended to update to the latest version.
You can add interpreters and set language after joining the interpreter mode meeting.

Start interpretation meeting in message room

You can also start an interpretation meeting via a message room call.
However, for an interpretation meeting in a message room call, all meeting participants must update the app to v3.6 or later.

Mobile

  1. Enter the message room and tap  .
  2. Tap .
  3. Tap 'Video Meeting Settings'.
  4. Turn on 'Interpretation meeting'.

PC App

  1. Click  on the top right of the message room.
  2. Click 'Video Meeting Settings'.
  3. Turn on 'Interpretation meeting'.

Select an interpreter

You can add, change, or delete interpreters or change the language interpreted by the interpreter.
Settings are applied to all participants.

Add an interpreter

You can add a member participating in the interpreter mode meeting as an interpreter.
You can add up to 10 interpreters. Each interpreter can have a different language selected for interpretation.

Mobile

  1. Tap ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Tap ‘Interpreted meeting’.
  3. Tap ‘Add an interpreter’.
  4. Select the member to add as an interpreter from the participant list.
  5. Select the language for the interpreter to interpret.
  6. Tap ‘Confirm’ at the top right to finish setting.

PC App

  1. Click ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Hover the mouse over ‘Interpreted meeting’and click ‘Advanced’.
  3. Click ‘Add an interpreter’.
  4. Select the member to add as an interpreter from the participant list.
  5. Select the language for the interpreter to interpret.
  6. Click ‘Complete’ and click ‘OK’ to complete the setup.

Change interpreter or language

You can change interpreters or change the target language for interpretation.

Mobile

  1. Tap ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Tap ‘Interpreted meeting’.
  3. Tapon the right of the interpreter to change the settings.
  4. Tap ‘Change interpreter’ or ‘Select language’ to change the settings.
  5. Tap ‘Confirm’ at the top right.

PC App

  1. Click ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Hover the mouse over ‘Interpreted meeting’ and click ‘Advanced’.
  3. Move the mouse on top of the interpreter you wish to change the settings for and click.
  4. Click ‘Change interpreter’ or ‘Select language’ to change the settings.
  5. Click ‘Complete’ and click ‘OK’ to complete the setup.


When the interpreter leaves the meeting, ‘Interpreter is unavailable’ will be displayed. The member can be found in the interpreter list after re-entering the meeting.
If the interpreter is changed or deleted after the interpreter leaves the meeting, the interpreter will not be automatically added to the interpreter list even after re-entering the meeting.

Delete an interpreter

You can delete an interpreter. A deleted interpreter will become a regular participant.
The meeting will be maintained even when all interpreters are deleted.

Mobile

  1. Tap ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen and then ‘Interpreted meeting’.
  2. Tapon the right of the interpreter to delete.
  3. Tap ‘Delete interpreter’.
  4. The interpreter will be deleted from the interpreter list after you tap ‘Yes’.
  5. Tap ‘Confirm’ at the top right.

PC App

  1. Click ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Hover the mouse over ‘Interpreted meeting’ and click ‘Advanced’.
  3. Move the mouse on top of the interpreter to delete and click.
  4. Click ‘Delete interpreter’.
  5. The interpreter will be deleted from the interpreter list after you click ‘OK’.
  6. Click ‘Complete’ and click ‘OK’ to complete the setup.

Select the interpreted language to listen to

You can select the translation language to listen to.
When interpretation begins, a message indicating that the interpreter mode has started will pop up. If the language of the device (mobile) or the app (PC app) is among the interpreted languages, it will be automatically set and you can listen to the interpretation immediately.

Mobile

  1. Tap ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Tap ‘Interpreted meeting’.
  3. Tap ‘Interpreted language to hear’ to select the interpreted language to listen to. If you do not want interpretation, select ‘No setting’.

PC App

  1. Click ‘More’ at the bottom of the call screen.
  2. Hover the mouse over ‘Interpreted meeting’ and click the interpreted language to listen to from the ‘Language to hear’ list. If you do not want interpretation, click ‘Not set’.

Interpret

You can select a language to interpret to continue the meeting when you are designated as an interpreter.
The interpreter's voice is only delivered to participants who are listening to the language that interpreter selected.
When the interpreter is speaking, the speech indicator will not be activated to other members, and only the interpreter can have the display.
When multiple interpreters are each interpreting in the language they selected, interpreters using different languages cannot hear the other interpreters.

Mobile

  1. After you are added as an interpreter, tap ‘Confirm’.
  2. Tap the language to interpret and continue. The selected language will be displayed in green, and your voice will be delivered to the participants who selected to hear that language.

PC App

  1. After you are added as an interpreter, click ‘OK’.
  2. Click the language to interpret and continue. The selected language will be displayed in green, and your voice will be delivered to the participants who selected to hear that language.
